Maker Media GmbH

We connect people, ideas, and technologies

We are the largest maker community platform in the German-speaking world. Through initiatives such as Maker Faire, MAKE: Magazine, Makey:Lab, strong networks, and dedicated partners, we create spaces where knowledge is shared, innovation is fostered, and collaboration thrives.

That's us

Maker Media brings together people who are interested in technology, innovation, and practical solutions—whether they come from the fields of education, business, research, or the maker community.

We want to make knowledge accessible, facilitate exchange, and promote collaborative learning. That’s why we create opportunities for people to learn from one another, carry out projects, and try out new ideas.

Progress happens when people remain curious, take unconventional paths, and share their experiences.

About Maker Media GmbH

Through its magazine *Make:*, the Maker Faires, and a strong online presence, Maker Media GmbH provides leading platforms for anyone who wants to use technology creatively, push the boundaries of innovation, and collaborate on new ideas. We cater to makers, creatives, educators, businesses, researchers, and emerging talent—in short, to everyone who doesn’t just consume innovation but wants to make it happen.

Make: Magazine and its website are known for high-quality, independent, and inspiring journalism. Many of the authors are themselves part of the maker community, which gives Make a high degree of credibility and a close connection to the scene. The offering is complemented by its own YouTube channel featuring practical content and inspiration.

A central pillar of our work is the Maker Faire Hannover – the largest Maker Faire in Germany. In addition, Maker Media grants licenses for the internationally successful community events in the DACH region, thereby fostering exchange across regions and disciplines.

Maker Media GmbH was founded in 2014 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of heise medien.

The map highlights what sets our community apart: people who share knowledge, collaborate on projects, and learn from one another—rooted in the local community yet connected across regions.
