Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth – a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement.
There are currently around 150 Maker Faires in 40 countries around the world. The first Maker Faire took place in 2006 in San Mateo, California, organized by the publishers of the American magazine Make.
Maker Faires are like a kind of fairground—entertaining, colorful, exciting, and motivating all at once. But fundamentally, a Maker Faire should be understood as a community-oriented learning event that aims to inspire everyone to become a maker themselves and to connect with people and projects in their local community.
