Koumio® introduces a comprehensive educational concept rooted in the architecture of intrinsic attention. We transform institutional spaces into innovative cognitive oases that stimulate autonomous scientific and critical thinking—without external pressure. Our goal is to cultivate Koumio Zones—aesthetic and functional environments within schools, community centers, and public institutions.
The backbone of this spatial design consists of Koumio Boards. These robust, durable tactile installations are crafted from wood and metal. Each board integrates deep pedagogical and cognitive value, covering core topics of primary and secondary STEM education.
How the Architecture of „Kouming“ Works
The entire concept is built on a structured environment that sparks natural human curiosity and the desire to explore the world through touch and action (hands-on discovery).
Zero pressure, zero grading: Users engage with the installations as they pass by—with no adult supervision, and no fear of making a mistake. This free architecture within an „unmonitored space“ removes performance anxiety and fosters peer-to-peer learning.
Learning · · · by the way: Tactile manipulation precedes abstract theory. Learning happens seamlessly and sub-perceptually. When students encounter the principle later in a traditional classroom, they approach it with a smile rather than panic, having already internalised it.
Inclusive approach: The concept spans all age and needs groups. The learning process architecture is developed in collaboration with our academic partner – the University of Pardubice, where empirical field data is currently being gathered to drive continuous innovation.
Mitmachaktion: Visitors can personally experience the process of „Kouming“—a cognitive state between playful tinkering, research, and problem-solving. At the stand, we present a selection of Koumio Boards with no manuals, screens, or guided instructions. Visitors of all age groups can approach the installations, manipulate the mechanical components, and discover the underlying STEM principles through their own tactile experience, spontaneous exploration, and autonomous inquiry.
